Principal's Message

Welcome Anderson Heights Families,

On behalf of the staff at Anderson Heights, it is my pleasure to welcome your family to Anderson Heights.  We are excited to become a neighborhood school again.  I love to watch the growth of students starting out in TK or Kindergarten and the excitement they bring with the beginning of their education.  Nothing is better than to see a student learn how to read and how this opens up a whole new world.

Each year uncovers a child's awareness of his or her talents, unfolds his or her ability to set goals for the future, and creates a lifetime of friendships and memories. Our goal is for each child to reach their potential; to learn and to grow in academic areas and in character. We treat each other as we wish to be treated, and kindness, honesty, and respect are the foundation for all our interactions. In all we do, we strive to provide a safe, supportive place where excellence is encouraged.

I would encourage that read to your child daily.  Starting in kindergarten, if a student reads 20 minutes a day at home, they will hear 1.8 million words per year.  They will have read for 851 hours by 6th grade and on standardized tests, they will likely score better than 90% of their peers.

This is compelling data on the benefits of encouraging your child to read.

This will prove to be an amazing year at Anderson Heights.

Again, I look forward to meeting and working with you.
